About us

Protecting animals. Restoring nature. Tackling the climate crisis.

Animal Rising is a nonviolent, people-powered organisation working towards a sustainable future where humanity shares a positive relationship with animals and nature.

The challenge

Animal farming and fishing are driving the crisis.

These industries cause widespread suffering to trillions of animals — and are a leading cause of the climate and ecological emergencies. Yet they're rarely named in the climate conversation.

That changes when ordinary people take bold, coordinated action.

The solution

A just transition to a plant-based food system.

We can produce abundant food on far less land, allow nature to recover, and end farm-animal suffering — while supporting farming and fishing communities through the transition.

The barriers aren't technical. They're political.

Our strategy

Three things, done together.

1. National conversation

Bold, high-profile campaigns that put animals, climate, and food-system change on the front page — and keep them there.

2. Local advocacy

Supporting communities to push for 100% plant-based catering in public institutions — schools, hospitals, councils.

3. Alliances

Working alongside the climate and nature movements, and with farming communities, to build the coalition that wins.

Our history

What we've done.

  1. 2024

    The high-welfare myth

Largest UK farm investigation ever — exposing RSPCA Assured. Followed by a major slaughterhouse investigation.

  2. 2023

    Grand National & beyond

Grand National disruption, occupation of a dairy farm, demonstrations at greyhound racetracks.

  3. 2022

    MBR Acres

Occupation of the MBR Acres beagle facility. Plant-based future blockades at dairy distribution centres.

  4. 2021

    McDonald's blockades

Distribution-centre blockades and a flagship store occupation, forcing a national conversation on plant-based futures.

  5. 2019

    Animal Rebellion launch

10,000-person march and the occupation of Smithfields meat market.
